test drive question

I was told the Check Engine light being
on is very common (always on brand new cars?) when they get them on the
lot. Also, I was told that because the engine wasn't "broken in" yet
and due to it most likely having been started and stopped so many
times, that it had fuel in the lines or something which caused the car
to feel a bit rough.
What BULL!
Leave this dealer. Just imagine the crap you'd get from their service
department.
In fairness to the dealer where I test drove the manual trans. and had
the issues, the car was only on their lot for 2 days I think, so maybe
it wasn't enough time to do the PDI.

As a few others have said don't buy from a dealer who takes you for a
test drive in an unpreped car they are selling to a customer.
Just think if they sold you a new car someone had hit too hard before it
was broken in.
A REAL dealer will use employee cars for test drives.

Actually I've given up on round the block test drives, not worthwhile.
After picking a car I like I rent one for a few days and give it a real
life test. Some dealers near me even lend out cars for a few days.
