Own a 2000 Legacy GT (63K miles at time of incident) that had to have
the head gaskets replaced... to the tune of $1617.60. Couple of
months later i received that recall letter and sent the bill in to SOA
for reimbursement. No word yet. I asked the service rep what caused
the leak, remember i didn't know about the recall until months later,
and he said, "it shouldn't go that early." Called him back after
receiving the letter and asked about the special coolant to which he
replied they had used it. Question 1: How did the dealer know to use
that special coolant b4 the recall letter came out? Question 2: If
they knew of the problem and knew it was a recallable issue, why was I
charged for the repair? I'm being very patient and waiting for my
reimbursement. SOA had better not let me down...
