What year? Some Subarus have an extended warranty for this code because they had a defective solenoid in them. The whole valve body has to be replaced as the solenoid is not replaceable by itself. The rest of the transmission does not have to be replaced, only the valve body. It is a few hundred bucks at a dealership for the valve body only as opposed to $6k for a complete transmission.
