According To My Owners’ Manual If I Were To Find Myself In Snow Ice Or Mud I Should Turn Off Traction Control And Engage X Mode To Prevent Lockups By The Traction Control.

From Reading 3 Independent Manuals Traction Control Is Designed To Transfer Power From A Slipping Drive Wheel To A Non Slipping Drive Wheel. All Wheel Drive Models According To At Least 2 Manuals Provide More Advanced Traction Control. When 2 Wheels Are Slipping Power Is Transferred From Both Slipping Wheels To Both Remaining Gripping Wheels. This Applies To Both Front Wheels Both Rear Wheels Or Even 2 Wheels On The Same Side Of The Vehicle.
