HI All,
I am new to the group so please if I am doing anything wrong, please let me know.
I replaced my heater core in a 1998 Legacy. When I replaced the heater core, I needed to pull out the dash board. Boy wonder here assumed that he would be able to connect every thing back up correctly given that the connectors will only fit one place.
Well, that did not work out too well. When I hook it up they way I thought, the dash board gauges dont work including the Speedometer and the tachometer. I did some search and there was one harness that I could not find where it goes. I removed some trim and there it was. I hooked it up and the codes went crazy. I have some pics below... the blue connector is the one I assumed was the one that needed to be connected. But when it is connected the dash gauges dont work, the other one is below the fuse block, when i plug that in only, the gauges work. The problem is... I never removed the harness shown in the first image with the gray connector. So i dont know how it would need to be connected.
I am getting a bunch of codes, 5 total, 2 are for Transmission position sensor, O2 sensor, fuel level, and one other. I was not getting codes before, so I dont believe that the codes are the problem, I believe the codes are because of the harness not be connected properly.
I removed the dash gauges and ran some tests back there. there is something odd. If you look closely at the Gray connector you can see a red wire with a blue stripe. That should be hot, the problem is that it is going to ground and the ground is hot. ON the dash gauges I noticed that the terminal that is supposed to ground is hot. Hmmm.
If anyone has any feedback on what I may have done wrong, I would appreciate it. I know electrical issues are hard to trouble shoot like this but, I am at my whits end.
Also the engine runs just fine, it starts with no issues.
thank you in advance.
