I have a 2009 legacy base model, looking to replace a rear wheel bearing. The problem I have is the axle nut is so rusted I can't get a socket on it. I was wondering if I was to pull the bearing and axle at the same time, would the axle clear the rear bracket? As in would it pull all the way out with only taking the hub bolts out? Thanks!

It is a gigantic nut. Hard to believe it is rusted in a way that a socket won't fit. Any pics? PB Plaster? Quick job with a brass brush?

Can't help on fitment. I don't know anyone who removes them that way. :)

When I did the front end I ended up just replacing everything. The second I put any pressure on the nut it instantly stripped.

I had one like that, albeit on front of 06 wrx. I used a dremel with cutting discs to cut diagonally until I could get a chisel in there to spread-open nut to release it. Be careful not to damage the threads.
