Updates on CVT trans issues in 2018/19 outbacks, are they reliable yet?

looking for last new car, have Toyota now but RAV no longer has 6cyl, 4Runner only comes in 6cyl and it's pretty heavy...Highlander too big.......anyway,

my cvt on a 2019 legacy is smooth as silk...…..so was the cvt om my 2017 legacy...….I bought the 2019 because it is the last year for the 3.6 engine...….
