Transmissions on the 2011,12 3.6L Limited

I can't figure out which transmission an Outback I looking at purchasing has! When I try looking up specs., the sites always send me to 2012 configurations. My VIN number has a four indicating 2011. Does this just specify the year it was built not model year?

It has to have either a 4EAT or 5EAT. I have a 5 EAT in a 2013 3.6R limited outback. No problems whatsoever.
