Tranny problems?

Sheldon

Sorry to keep bugging you guys, but this is my first "late model" Subie and
I have lot's of questions.

I just got this '97 Outback with an automatic tranny, and have noticed that
the tranny gives a definitive "tug" when it shifts from 1st to second. All
the other gears feel fine. Can this be adjusted? Is this just normal? The
car checked out fine with my mechanic, who has a very good reputation,
especially with Subaru's. He flushed the tranny and replaced the fluid with
synthetic.

I have the same problem on my 2002 Outback but between 2nd and 3rd, only
when the engine and transmission is cold. Once it warms up all is good.
I flushed the fluid 2-3 times, used synthetic, changed transmission mounts,
some other parts as well but none of this solved the problem.
Now I just have to live with it.

Btw, I noticed this on 2006 XT Outback I test drove.

Maybe I'm too sensitive now. :)

Cheers,
Voja

I could get used to it, but sometimes it causes whiplash -- well, not quite
that bad. :)
