Towing a trailer

Why is my 2019 Impreza not able to tow a trailer and a Crosstrek is able to tow a small trailer?
The engines seemed to be the same. Is the transmission and/or transaxles stronger?

My 2014 Impreza is rated to pull 1200 orc1500 lbs (forgot which), went to U-Haul, they verified, installed a good 1.25" receiver plus 2 sets of lighting Jacks (light duty flat and heavy duty torpedo) and I rent from U-Haul a motorcycle trailer to haul my BMW or Honda, an open trailer to haul family bits or a 5*8 cargo to haul office stuff to archives. Impreza handles it magnificently. Even have a bike rack for the receiver to carry 4 bikes. All good!
