Hi!

I'm wondering what the timing belt service interval is for the 2004 Outback. The engine code is EJ254.

Also what shall be serviced when changing the timing belt, like the water pump as well?

Thanks!

105k miles. Water pump. Belts. Thermostat. Likely wires-get OEM. Depends what else you've done. There's also a 30k service interval (plugs). Plenty of things worth checking.

You can view it on the driver's side if you remove the small cover to see if there is any degradation/cracks. My 2004 has the original and it looks great. Going to change it on "time" (miles) at 105k...in ~4 years.

And at 210k:

My 2004 at 105k...it all looks about the same on these!

This was not from longevity, but a bad install. One part was installed wrong and rubbing the belt.
