This weekend I got some stinky lake water on the cloth seats of my Forester
XT. Though the smell is starting to dissipate, it is still there. Any
recommendations for removing the stench? Febreeze maybe?

Three ideas, any of which should work.
You might try miximg some real vanilla extract in some water and putting
it in a spray bottle and spraying the seats. Most people find the smell
of vanilla very pleasant (kind of like cookies right out of the oven),
but not overwhelming or perfumy (I myself can't stand perfumy smells,
but tolerate vanilla very well. It also has some odor neutralizing
properites (i.e., it doesn't just mask odors). It will also dissipate
in a couple of days - hopefully the two smells will be gone about the
same time.
You could also do the same thing with a mixture of vinegar and water to
chemically neutralize the odor without doing damage and without any
added smells.
A third idea that I have had success with are some commercial products
available in places like WalMart - some dry stuff that you unseal and
let it sit in the same air space as the odor causing area and it
chemically neutralizes odors without additional masking odors. Sorry -
don't remember the name of the product I used.
