On a 2016 Legacy the roof trim has completely separated from the car. Looking for information on steps to replacing this trim piece. Is there is a YouTube video or pictures of the installation process? Seems like a fairly straight forward process but I would like to know of any pitfalls before tackling this task. Thanks

Just so I'm clear...you want us to search YT and give you the video? "C'mon, man..."

I have searched YT and found very few vids related to this subject and the few I found were contradictory on installation. I was hoping someone might be able to provide clarity. Maybe I'm wrong.

Here are the requested pics. If you notice in the first pic at the front the bracket is missing inner "tab". Suspect that may be the issue with the missing trim piece. It looks like this piece is spot welded. Not really interested in going to the cost or effort in replacing the piece. Any thoughts as to alternatives?

If it is something welded, I suspect a local welder could do it for you. Most cars' trim mounts with a ton of different kinds of clips. Don't get me going on Volvo. Look at the parts diagram on the subaru site and see all of the pieces and what you might be missing. It'll provide great insight. I just went through that for the '05 GT interior trim...which was broken from the factory.

I have looked online. Found the part. Not overly expensive; about $12 at the local dealer. I am a decent body man but unfortunately I just sold my house and shop and moved to be closer to family and all my stuff is in storage. The Subie belongs to my grandson and I'm just trying to help him out. May have to find someone with 220v and air. Thanks

I wouldn't be opposed to some safety wire to ensure it wouldn't come off, ever, but subsidizing the install with some 3M 2-sided tape or caulking...total ghetto, but easy.

the way cars go together is really something...a lot of clips!

I generally try to match or improve original but that repair has crossed my mind.

Is it accessible from the inside? May be just pull down your head liner and use a stainless bolt or screw.
