I have a 2019 Outback limited that has a bad screen. Is there anything you lose besides audio function if you go with an aftermarket radio?

vehicle setup functions? How many mileages? I have 2019 and 40k mi ran, and SOA gave me a goodwill replacement of the radio with no cost as I have a delamination.

I went with the aftermarket headunit route after my delaminated. Did it through Best Buy and if you get a head unit that is Maestro compatible, you keep every function the original one provided. Things are exactly the same but I didn’t lose anything I used.

I was going to replace it with Subaru but I found out they just replace your old head unit with the same kind of unit and I didn’t want to handle when it delaminated again. Really irritating Subaru isn’t doing more about this.

I went to a Subaru Dealership and they told me that I needed a whole radio unit, because of Delamination. It could take months to get the part. Who put on your unit? A mechanic? My car is only 5 years old. Subaru has to step up to the plate.

I had the same problem with my Outback 2019 with 26K miles. I've contacted Subaru and I was told to bring the case to the dealership Subaru Glendale. They will give a free replacement but I have to pay for the installation ($215/hour).
I have been waiting for 4 weeks now.
In my opinion they should pay for everything, this is not normal.

Interesting, can you see the car informations too? Which model? Subaru dealership told me it was impossible to use anything else besides the Subaru OEM. Thanks

My Subaru dealership is actually the ones to tell me to not use Subaru to replace it and go get a new screen at Best Buy. I didn’t originally know this but apparently they have Geek Squad auto technicians at certain locations and they install new head units. I bought the Pioneer DMH-W3050NEX head unit. It ended up being around $900 to do it all because you have to also purchase the parts to adapt it to the car. You can buy those parts through Best Buy or through crutchfield. Crutchfield will also send you instructions to do it yourself but I didn’t feel confident enough to do it alone. Geek Squad keeps the starlink system and then if you get Maestro compatible tech it should keep all of the car information and functions.

The nice part about Best Buy is that they guarentee their work and the product for life. They will also put the old unit back in if you ever decide to sell the car or Subaru realizes they screwed up and recall the units. Overall I am happy with it. It isn’t the perfect replacement but my screen was entirely unusable. I dealt with the ghost touches for a year and it just got to the point where nothing was working and I could barely listen to my music. I have only ever owned Subarus and was planning on continuing with that but the way they have handled this will make me rethink that going forward.
