I own a 2021 Subaru Outback XT. When I play my radio the screen shows that it is recording what ever is playing. How can I turn this function off? I don't need recording. Is there a way to disable this function?

Just a guess here, but the recording may to be related to the HD Radio feature. On the radio screen, look to see if HD Radio is on. HD Radio has many advantages. It enhances sound quality over standard AM and FM broadcasts. It also enables additional sideband channels on the FM band if the broadcaster is airing additional programming. In fact, the FM audio is near CD quality if you are using HD Radio. Another feature is the ability to cache a broadcast for future listening if it is interrupted by a phone call. I suspect this is where the recording is taking place. Try turning the HD Radio to off and see if the recording message disappears. There may also be a sub menu off of the replay button to enable/disable the actual recording on some models. If not, the recording may be automatic when using HD Radio. The recording cache is only 30 minutes, which means only the latest 30 minutes of broadcast is saved, old content is overwritten by newer content after the cache is full. The cached content is deleted automatically when the radio is turned off or the station is changed to a station that is not broadcasting an HD Radio signal.
