Pulling the mirror

I'd like to pull both mirror and stalk out of a 99 Soob OB Wagon. I can get
the mirror out with a 15mm Torx wrench, but I can't find the bolts that hold
the stalk to the vehicle. I've tried moderate pressure on what looks like a
plastic cap, but don't want to bend it too far for fear of cracking it.

You gain access from inside the car. Got to remove that plastic trim piece
above the door panel. It should come off by sliding /pushing it upward.

Sorry, I guess I didn't explain myself well. The mirror I'm talking about
is the one mounted near the center of the windshield, apparently bolted to
the metal frame that holds the top of the windshield in place.

It is nowhere near the door panel.

Oops. In this case just remove that cap. Pry on side loose and it should
pop off. Could always visit a wrecking yard and practice on a wrecked
car.
