My 2024 Crosstrek is Alpine Green.
A YouTube video by Automotive Press compared the Crosstrek to the Toyota Cross, and the reviewer was a little disappointed in the thickness of the paint on both cars: he expected a thickness of about 90-120 Microns. The Subaru had 87- 97 microns, and the Toyota had 73-118(118 on the roof) the caveat was that with modern paint, thinner can be ok.
(Overall he was more impressed with the Subaru, btw, even though he was a Toyota engineer)
I’m interested in applying a good plastic/ceramic coat to my car and wanted recommendations from the crowd.
Any suggestions?

Btw, I live in Texas, where road salt isn’t a problem, and the car is garaged. Plus I wipe it down with Rain-X and microfiber cloth every single time I drive it, so there’s no dirt buildup.

A clear wrap in the trouble spots would get the job done, from a protection perspective...but wraps aren't cheap. I did my own clear on all of the motorcycle tanks to keep the tank bags from rubbing, and it was a PITA. Ceramic is going to look nice and help keep ti clean, but rock chips, etc. will still be a concern.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it.
I am literally expecting to keep this car for the rest of my life, given that I have gotten to a particular age, ha ha.
Is there a particular brand or company you recommend? I would just as soon do the whole car, but many years ago, when I had my AMC Eagle repainted, I helped in the prep, which included taking everything off the outside of the car the roof rack, the bumpers, the plastic cladding, everything, and that was a big deal and it was not inexpensive, so I don’t want to go overboard.

I'd call some local places that do wraps and ask about what they do for protection. I can't imagine a "need" to wrap anything beyond the trouble spots (part/all of hood, behind wheels, etc.) with a clear. Mudflaps go a long way also, but know that they can collect stuff and cause rot/damage. Just clean the area when you wash the car. Many window tinting places also to wraps. Tinting is also nice if you haven't done that yet. I got the heat lowering kind last year on all three cars and wish that I did it years ago. (Same with sway bar upgrades...which made a huge handling difference for very low cost.)

I've had my 2000 since new and it still looks 95% good in and out. No clear. Annual wax. Occasional wash. Leather condition interior every couple of years.
