Online source for Subaru extended warranties?

Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a Subaru extended warranty for my 2003 OBW.
I know subaruwarranty.com used to offer good deals, but the site no
longer is up. I'm looking for suggestions as to the best place to buy a
warranty. My two local dealers won't budge much on price at all.
Thanks,
Brian

Subaruwarranty.com was a front for Subaru of Chicopee, MA. If I were
in your shoes, I'd try phoning them and seeing if they'll best your
local dealer.

While you're at it, see if you can't probe to see what led to the
demise of subaruwarranty.com -- I'm curious if Subaru put the kabosh
on it.

Also, groups.google.com my prior posts about extended warranties--I've
got price specifics and some things to look out for that you may find
helpful to ya.

Best Regards,

Ah ha--just found em again (googling subaru warranty chicopee). They
appear to be reincarnated as:
http://www.currysubaruwarranty.com

Gold Plus is the far better plan by the way. The Classic is little
more than a glorified power train warranty "we cover these things..."
plan. Gold Plus on the other hand is exclusionary "cover everything
but this list of stuff" coverage.

As a datapoint, I bought 100k/6yr/0deductible/GoldPlus plan for my
2001 from them for $1200 back in early 2003. The gamble (and extended
warranties are a gamble) hasn't paid off for me yet, but I've got
another 30k to drive though.

So you're happy to pay for a warranty to a company who was around for a
couple of years, then suddenly sprung up under another name??? Just like
dodgy retailers who charge you extra for a lifetime warranty and rebadge the
business 2 yrs later so they don't have to pay up...

Let me help you get your facts straight on this matter.

Curry Subaru of Chicopee did and still does sold the Subaru of America
warranty, not their own. It's good at any Subaru dealer, centrally
registered and backed by Subaru, not the individual dealer that sold
it.

Their old web site subaruwarranty.com went away, they did not.

I don't know for sure, but I'm betting that Subaru strongarmed them
into taking down that site because of branding and such. If I were
Subaru, I wouldn't want an individual dealer making it look like they
were the authoritative source for the subaru of america warranty
because I'd have hundreds of other dealers whining to me about it
because Curry's pricing was so much better. That's a guess, but I'd
be surprised if that's not what happened.

So while they Curry Subaru didn't go away, their web presence simply
went away and has recently reemerged as
http://www.currysubaruwarranty.com/

I mean, I'm all for watchdog tendencies, but in this case, paranoia is
unfounded.

Best Regards,
