How do I solve Excessive Oil consumption causes for 2013 4 cylinder wagon? Milage is 162k.

My guess is that it needs a top. Or top overhaul which is rings and valves only. Oil consumption is typically due to worn rings and or valves.
A full overhaul includes all new bearings etc which takes in the engines bottom end too.
Be sure ever who does it, knows what they're doing because everything has to go back in exactly in the same place and orientation as it was when it came out.
I've had a mechanic that didn't know what he was doing trash an engine once simply because he had his head up his backside, didn't know what or how to do it and didn't pay attention.

You diagnose and find out where the oil is going. You are assuming consumption, no? It could be a simple O-ring or gasket. What have you diagnosed so far?

Identify the problem before implementing a "solution." I know that we're in a society where people you don't know provide advice based on no data...but unless you're willing to take that risk with what might be one of your largest assets...

Thicker oil can indeed mask other issues and extend the life of an engine with tolerance issues, but if you have a leak instead...thicker oil may create other problems, just like overfilling to add oil less frequently can.

My 2000 Legacy has been losing a bit of oil since the 210k service I did and there was oil at the left valve cover gasket. I thought that we may have gotten something in the gasket. A quick look with a flashlight after cleaning revealed that it was a $.05 Harbor Freight gasket fix on the filler tube assm. Dry as a bone now and I was surprised at how much oil could come out of there in so few miles of driving. Tha gasket was...215k miles and 25 years old!
