I recently lost my remote, and bought a new (used) one on ebay. I can't get
it to work. The first sign of trouble is that I can't get the beeps that are
supposed to indicate the system is in programming mode. This is the Alpine
system. From cars 101.com and subaruoutback.org, this doesn't work:
Unlock all doors, foot on brake, all doors closed. Cycle key quickly but
carefully on-off appr 10 times until the car honks one time.
From the seller of the remote this doesn't work:
Open driver's door. Enter vehicle. Close driver's door.
Within 15 seconds: Turn ignition key to ON position and back to LOCK
position 10 times. Horn sounds once to indicate programming mode
activated.
I've tried several times, no beep. I have turned off the beeps when arming
the system, but the old remote is gone and I can't turn it back on.
