Hi there! I just got my first subaru back in Jan (previously I'd owned/driven Hyundai for the past 10+ years, before that it was strictly Toyota or Honda).
I purchased a (certified) pre-owned vehicle from a local Subaru dealer at the very end of Jan '25. It is a 2024 Forester Sport (AWD).
I like it so far, but there are a few things that really annoy/frustrate me. When I was searching for some solution (online) I found these forums and they seemed helpful, even tho I couldnt find a solution that worked for my model+year+trim (e.g., "how to actually turn OFF the radio so it doesnt auto-ON when I start the car" and "how to reset/reconfigure the meter screen to relpace/remove the "eco gauge").
As Im still learning the car (especially the 'cockpit', the steering wheel is overly busy with so many controls that get in the way of my aging hands+fingers) Im looking for some accessories to help protect my investment, especially since there are a already several micro-scratches (superficial) and micro-sized 'chips' (only on the top-edge of the rear-umber, but there's at least a dozen of them spread out, even if theyre only the size sesame-seed)
I was hoping my dealer's "value advantage/protection" program would cover buffing/touching-up those, but appraently not -- it's limited to paintless dent repair, and doesnt include paintless minor-scratch repair nor minor touch-up [e.g. of sesame-seed sized chips]. If I'd known that at the time I would have asked that to be touched-up _before_ I left the dealer's lot [sigh].
Anyway, I think I'm for sure interested in the Rear-Bumper cover [part# E771SSJ000] (regardless of whether or not I try to touch-up the top-edge of the bumper). Im also interested in either body-sode molding [part# J101SSJ201] or else door-cladding [part# J101SSJ900] to protect the door-side from 'dings' (e.g. while parked). The cladding is supposedly for a different trim-level (wilderness) but Im not sure why it wouldnt fit my 'sport' if its the same make+model+year (shouldnt it?)
I'm curious if anyone has experience with any those, and if they think it's worth it, or strongly suggest using cheaper non-OEM (i.e. aftermarket) parts (as well as installing them yourself versus the dealer doing it)?
