Need Mechanic for inspection in Lynnwood, Edmonds to Everett, WA

W

I'm going to look at a used car in Lynnwood, WA in a day or two. Can
anyone recommend a trustworthy independent shop nearby (Lynnwood,
Edmonds, Everett, etc.: someplace within 10 to 15 minutes of the
junction of I-5 and I-405) where I can get a pre-purchase mechanical
inspection done? More interested in thoroughness and intellegence than
low price!

Please state your relationship with the shop (customer, owner, friend
of employee, etc.)

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Have no knowledge of such a mechanic, but this might be a place to start:

In general, I recommend shops that are AAA approved and have ASE Certified
Master Technicians. A shop that goes through the trouble to get AAA
approval and hire and retain master technicians is usually serious about
getting cars fixed properly the first time.

Does AAA have a listing? I'm a member.

AAA's web site does have a way to look up AAA approved facilities. Try
http://www.autoclubgroup.com/chicago/autos/approved_repair.asp

If that doesn't work, try http://www.autoclubgroup.com/ and look under
vehicle maintenance.

To find a shop with ASE certified technicians, go to http://www.asecert.org/
and click on the "Blue Seal of Excellence" link, and use the search
function. A shop with both AAA and ASE certifications should be a safe bet.
