Looking to Purchase First Subaru

I am looking to purchase my first Subaru within the next few months. With our growing family, I am looking for something that can accommodate the space we need while also providing a comfortable and safe ride. I have not driven anything yet and I know that the test drives will ultimately be the determining factor in which one I purchase, but I am doing my research on the Ascent and the Forester.

Any information on which Subaru I should consider is greatly appreciated. Pros and cons of the Forester and Ascent, etc.
