Hey folks. There is a 2000 Legacy Sedan GT Limited (5-spd) for sale in my
area with many features including leather, sunroof and many power features.
It has ~90,000 miles, but otherwise in in pretty good shape and even new
tires. Paint looks well cared for, but one of the lower driver-side body
kit panels looks like it took a slight hit, but nothing major. The person
has the Blue Book listing on the window and "will sell for $9,000".
Before I call the guy I wanted to get some feedback from anyone for the
reliability that I can expect with this car or for asking things about
certain service increments that should have been done by now. I know that
Subarus in general will last a long time, but sometimes certain model years
are a little more prone to "issues". I have checked my copy of Consumer
Reports and as far as they say, the '00 is recommended.
We had recently been looking at the newer Forester and know that they have
the boxer engine which I think they said allows for better balance with the
car handling so I hope someone can support this and let me know whether the
'00 Legacy may have that engine arrangement. I'll be honest that my
interest in this car at first was the curb appeal but also a knowledge that
the AWD would be nice to have.
Thanks!
