My 2018 Impreza's Eyesight system failed - no Lane Centering, no Adaptive Cruise. Initially, I took it to the dealer who charged $600 for diagnostics just to tell me the "camera is broken" with a $3,000 repair quote—no root cause identified.

After this diagnosis, I sent two detailed complaint letters to Subaru Corporate over 3 weeks with no response. Finally, I sent a stern follow-up demanding action.

Here's where it gets interesting: Suddenly, Subaru Corporate emails me and schedules a service appointment without any discussion. This completely shifts from their previous stance of "pay $3,000 for repair."

Questions for other owners:

Has anyone experienced similar Eyesight failures?
Did Subaru cover any repair costs?
What was your diagnostic/repair experience?
Any insights on why they might have suddenly changed their approach?

Your post is unclear. Are u saying they are now going to pick up the cost? Car under warranty?

Subaru didn't say anything to me; they just scheduled an appointment. I find all of this extremely odd.

You find it odd that they are going to service your vehicle?? Not sure what you find odd. Subaru services the vehicles they sell. They scheduled an appt and u gonna pay the $3k repair. Same as it ever was..

Question 2..is or is not your vehicle under warranty?

I vehicle is not under warranty.

What I find odd is they would schedule a service appointment without me asking for service; I filed a complaint with Subaru Corporate and the next thing I know is they scheduled a service appointment.

Ok....well...what was your complaint? what were you wanting to have happen??? You have something needs fixed and only way to do that is a service appt. Still not sure what u see is odd. I am not gonna keep trying to pull it out of you. Here to help if ya want...but no idea what you are after or the point of your post.

FYI, 2017 and 2018 Subaru vehicles are some of the worst they have ever made. I have a 2018 outback and have more stuff wrong with it than you can imagine. And this is my sixth Subaru. The roof rails are peeling off the top of my car the black trim has faded to almost white, the leather seats have ripped, They have had to replace the motors in both of my front windows three times, they had to replace the heated seat unit in my driver seat once, the list goes on and on and on and on and Subaru Of America really doesn’t give a damn. If enough of us complain to Subaru Of America And posted it on social media a lot then perhaps we would all get some satisfaction. Oh yes, by the way, I bought this car brand new in 2016 the 2017 model. It is your atypical one owner driven by a little old lady in Florida and it has only 80,000 miles on it; I bought every bell and whistle that I could find for this car and Subaru, was just not standing behind their product anymore like they used to I’m deeply disappointed and really quite angry.

I wanted to provide a final update on my Eyesight situation. Initially, I was skeptical of Subaru Corporate's sudden scheduling of a service appointment without any prior communication, especially after weeks of silence following my complaint letters and their previous $3,000 repair quote. Their abrupt shift in approach, without any explanation or discussion, naturally made me cautious given the earlier interactions.

However, I want to acknowledge that in the end, the matter was resolved satisfactorily. While the communication process could have been smoother from the start, I appreciate that Subaru ultimately addressed the issue.

Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and advice. The insights from this community were helpful throughout this process.
