I have a 2014 Subaru outback. Someone else drove it and the key is now stuck half way out in the ignition. Key will not turn forward or back. And again, it is half way out. The car is in park. I get a click from a solanoid or relay (?) behind the wheel when I depress the button on the shifter. I checked the little tab contact under the shifter and it appears to be making contact. When I depress that tab with a screwdriver (with the shifter lifted out) I hear the same clicking. I tried unplugging a grey wiring harness by the ignition key switch, but all that did was stop the key warning beeper from sounding. (And curiously, it made it so that I could lock and unlock the doors with the buttons on the key while it is stuck in the ignition--when I reconnect the harness I cannot do that.... if that helps....) Any thoughts on how to get the key out of its half-way stuck position?
I feel like I cannot fully trouble shoot other sensor or switch issues unless i can get the key from being stuck half way so I can turn the ignition on
