Iowa Raises Speed Limit to 70!

Its about time. Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day in this
state. So many insurance companies in Des Moines with so much
political power. We got the first 5 mph out of them, in a couple
more years we can go for the next 5!

65 mph in a wide open state like Iowa was ridiculous. Everybody went
75 and risked a ticked. Now we can all go 75 without worry (despite
the governer saying the new limit will be tightly enforced. We all
know that is hotwash!). Phew!

Hopefully we'll be able to do 80 in a couple of years like all the
progressive states to the west of us.

Where do you live in Iowa? I grew up in Rock Island and spent allot of
time in Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Wapello, Burlington, Morning Sun,
Blue Grass, Muscatine, etc. Love that state. Ed Hayes

Cedar Rapids on the Cedar River. Love the Rock River. One of the
best recreational rivers in the midwest.

So people unfortunate enough to be there can get out faster?

There needs to be a system whereby I-70 would become a limited autobahn allowing a speed limit of 85
possibly 90 mph. Three things would need to be present.

1. A separate class of operator licence based on visual accuity, physical reflexes, and a written
test.

2. Vehicle safety inspection.

3. Express bypasses around metro business loops.

Also:

2. Vehicle safety inspection.

Does this include "excluding" vehicles from such roads that are
demonstrably unsafe at such speeds, like so many SUVs and trucks?

Well done! Very effective when "Also:" is the last line on the window!!

Sure,
There'd have to be a list of prohibited modifications (mostly suspension related, e.g. ride-height,
etc.). Then specific factory stock vehicles could be excluded on the basis of test database
performed on stock platforms.

1. Resistance to brake fade.
2. Emergency lane change behavior.
3. List of safe tires and known substandard tires.

O.T.

I'm just pipe-dreaming of course. The country's teetering on the brink of financial meltdowm. The
first order of business would be to round up ALL the CRIMINAL (illegal) aliens, send them home, then
secure the borders with concertina wire and landmines.

No, I'm not kidding, that's what concertina wire and landmines are for: for securing national
borders against INVASION. It's time to hang the Republicans & Democrats for treason.

Could you remind me again of the recent history of your country?
I mean just the last 300 years or so.
