Hyperblinking after installing new taillights

I recently installed aftermarket LED sequential taillights on my 2017 WRX and my taillights, front turn signal bezels and other front turn signal have been hyperblinking ever since. Does anyone know what this could possibly be and how to fix it?

Might be wrong part electrically. That happened to me in the past.

Edit: just remembered details: that happened when a light burnt out in my 1987 GL. And it was a great way to tell me there was a problem, whether it was designed that way or not.

Maybe the resistance of the aftermarket lights is too high.
