I live in New Mexico hence dusty i have 2014 Forester and sort of wish i had my 1998 Forester instead. I'm an old guy 85 and know how to work on old cars not enamored of the tech on this one happy to be here safe journeys to all.

I can identify...not with the age as I'm 77...but with your frustration about the technology stuff. I just purchased a 2020 Forester with all the bells and whistles. I really don't need all this stuff! The auto start/stop is something I hate. I don't want my car talking to me, nor telling me when I'm getting close to the lane divider, or putting on the brakes when I get to close to the vehicle in front of me, or the battery draining when I go car camping and want to leave the tailgate open (I've found out how to deal with this...but I had to do research), all of the contradictory info on YouTube about the CVT (the variable transmission) in regards to servicing (in USA, Subaru says it's a sealed system and leave it alone...just check the levels. In Japan, they tell owners to change the fluid out every 36K miles), having to turn off the control for auto braking before I take it through a car wash...and the list goes on and on...and I've only had the car for a couple of weeks. That said, I love my Subaru and did a lot of research before I purchased it. All cars have issues. The problem is ME. I am too long in tooth to fully appreciate all the technology and my brain is starting to get compromised. If I learn how to do something today, I have to be retrained in 24 hours lol.
