I bought a 2012 Outback about 9 months ago from a dealer. I asked him if he knows if the timing belt was ever changed and he told me it had a timing chain. I did a little research and discovered it has a belt. When I bought it, it had about 89K miles on it. Now it has almost 110K on it. I was thinking of changing the belt myself because it didn't look to be too nasty a job, but just now, I removed the inspection cover and took a look at it. I can still read "SUBARU" on the belt, so I'm thinking the previous owner changed it at 80K or so.
