Fuel Octane required for the Ascent

I have a 2021 Ascent, and the manufacture recommended octane is 87. I live in Utah, and the regular unleaded octane is 85, as it is in all the mountain west states, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming Colorado and Montana. So, I have been putting premium 91 octane in the car. Of course the premium runs anywhere from 10-15 cents a gallon more. If I run the 85 octane, will it hurt the turbo or it's performance? I generally buy my gas at Costco, which is still cheaper than other stations 87 octane.

I wouldnt run anything lower than 87. If you've been running 91, I'd stay on 91.

That's what I will do. No need to take chances of damaging a 50K vehicle for a few pennies on the dollar.
