fuel filter puzzle

hey where is the fuel filter located on the 98 outback i've traced the
fuel lines and i can't seem to find it. someone help please

Hi

Assuming it must be a bit like a 98 Forester (on UK RH drive model), up
high, back right corner area of engine compartment. Looks like a black beer
can with two pipes going to top of it.

Assuming your engine layout is similar to '97 Outback 2.5L : when
lookin at the engine from the front, with the battery on your
right-hand side, the fuel filter is located between the windshield
washer tank and the brake fluid tank.
