Vanguard, I appreciate that you are a stickler for rules and don't
care to see items for sale, but, directing someone to your ebay
listing is NOT and offer for sale outside of ebay.
Also, it isn't really spam is it if it is subaru related items in the
subaru newsgroup. If it were, say, a porn site, or someone holding a
million dollars for you in Nigeria - you might have a point.
Just encourage people to use the stuff for sale thread - and then
avoid it if you don't want to see items for sale. Someone here may
really appreciate finding an item they need.
Vanguard is correct on 'totally' correct Usenet etiquette.
AAS is *not* a forsale newsgroup.
Even the "forsale' froups would consider "X-Eliminator"s posts as spam
because he's false-tagging them as FS rather than FA (for auction)
eBay also considers this simple thing as a TOS violation.
There is another lower standard on Usenet selling that fits here as
well. It's hard to put it in worlds because it varies with the 'froup
mind' of each newsgroup.
It boils down to participation.
FS, FA, FT posts are usually OK in most froups *IF* the poster actually
does make some constructive posts (even if it's just a followup
excuse/apology to being pilloried for spamming).
In other words, you, me, Yousef, Hatch or such could do an occasional
"forsale' and even Vang wouldn't mind it.
Has anyone ever seen a "real" post from this "X-Eliminator" ??
I haven't. He's a drive-by spammer.
"X-Eliminator" just earned a doublewhack from eBay (via mu complaints
for being a 'drive-by' usenet spammer, and then re-posting his bogus FS.
