I'm having my daughter's 2018 Crosstrek looked over while she's on vacation. The air and cabin filters need to be replaced. Am I Ok on using aftermarket filters for these?

I use only aftermarket. Check out RockAuto for low prices, with shipping costs offset if you order enough items. Subaru parts are a total ripoff. Even the axles are rebuilt and not new.

For oil, cabin, and air filters, I've always used aftermarket. Traded in my 2010 Forester at around 170K a few weeks ago. I transitioned that from standard to full synthetic at around 100k, and always used FRAN oil filters. Cabin and air always FRAN or cheap. The Forester still ran great, but it was time for the next owner, lol.

It's all the same fabric that lets a certain amount of air through; as long as it is OEM equivalent, you're fine man, especially on air and cabin filters.

On a separate note, take a look at this. Best of luck on her Crosstrek, you all maybe in for a bumpy ride for other reasons 🫢 I had the head gasket issue on my 2.5 2010 Forester, we've been budgeting for replacement on our Subaru's since 2003.
