Android Auto Voice Choice

Help. Please provide a step by step instruction on how to change the voice for the Android Auto nav. I use Google Maps and I set a certain voice (US-English-male) but it switched back to the default female voice. Oh, and BTW, sometimes she'll say, "Turn right onto xxxx road," and then sometimes she just says, "Turn right" with no street name. Very frustrating.
