I recently purchased a 2020 Forester Touring. This thing is smarter than I am but just as smart as me in one area. I back into the garage so that I can drive forward to enter the street. Yesterday I had opened the back end so that my wife could load something or other. I pushed the button in the dash to close the back but evidently didn't hold it in long enough as the back didn't close. I was distracted with the safety belt, changing glasses etc. and put it in gear and started to drive out when my wife alerted me too the open trunk situation. Due to the hight of the garage door compared to the hight of the tailgate there would be interference as I drove forward, resulting in damage to the tailgate. I know I need to pay more attention but it strikes me that along with all the other alerts there ought to be a warning that the trunk is open. Has anyone else faced this issue or is it just another getting old thing?
