1995 Legacy was having power issues, blowing CELs that suggested a bad injector last winter. Replaced the suspect injector and car ran fine. Began experiencing similar issues recently with chirping from fuel pump area. Replaced additional injectors and car was running very hard on start, blowing lots of smoke. After tinkering around some more, started and ran very quiet and smooth. Then I remembered I hadn't reconnected the fuel pump after disconnecting to depressurize the lines. Went around back (car still running smooth) and connected pump. Car sputtered, died. Took this to mean that I had a bad fuel pump, but after replacement, same issue occurring. Started with heavy sputtering. Unclicked pump harness, settles down and purrs. Any ideas what could be my issue, here?
