Parked this Legacy wagon in the woods prolly 20 years ago, head gasket failed (still ran..."ran when parked") and now it's time to "get 'er gone". My problem is the gearbox, an automatic, is stuck in gear or park. The selector lever would only move with due force so I guessed the cable is frozen. Problem is, I pulled the gear selector off the tunnel and it's connected to a rod, not a cable. Can't see where the gear change mechanism hits the transmission so I'm not sure what's up.
My plan was to disconnect the linkage and manually shift the automatic into neutral to get it rolling.
Sorry for the TLDR post, just looking for ideas, thanks!
