Hi guys,

Just got a new Subaru Forester.

I see half the feature marketed are not working all the time. They work 1 in 10 times.

The following features work once in a while.

1. Start stop at a traffic signal.
2. When a vehicle in front moves after signal turns green. It once or twice showed that the vehicle in front moved.
3. For the first one today, it detected a vehicle slowing down in front and warned me "objection detected'
4. Car doesn't stop when a vehicle in front stops.

I don't know if this is because it's a new car or I got a defective system.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

For the engine to power off at a stop light, a whole lot of conditions need to be met (not the whole list here)

Steering wheel straight
Stop has to be "gentle"
Brake pedal has to be pressed kind of firmly
Engine has to be a certain temperature
Cabin temperature can't deviate too much from settings while stopped
etc.

Also, having the auto vehicle hold turned on actually makes it stop and stay stopped more consistently.

For the car to stop when vehicle in front stops, the adaptive cruise control has to be engaged AND you can't tap the brake pedal inadvertently or it turns off.

There is a learning curve to getting used to the assist system, definitely. Not defective.
