2017 Forester with 81,562 miles. Just had an oil change at the dealership and they informed us we have an oil leak and they recommended us to "reseal cam carriers, found leak." The problem is the dealership wants $3,688.04 to reseal the cam carriers as it's a very labor intensive job. One would think after only 81,000 there shouldn't be an oil leak in a Subaru? Is this a serious issue? Would Subaru of America bore the brunt of this costly fix? Please advise.

Get a second opinion!! And not at the dealer. Find a reputable service center to look at it and see what they say.
My wife was told several times by the Mercedes dealer that she had oil leaks at the front of both valve covers.
I pipped the hood, took a smsll rag and wiped up less than a teaspoon full oil. We ignored the leak for another 50000 miles.
