Recently became aware that I need a new valve body for my TR580 KHDAA transmission and I am questioning if all valve bodies are the same on the TR580, I see many similar options for sale but a lot of sales for these are saying they qualify for every model, without listing the Legacy fifth gen, outback, exiga, levorg etc. questioning if all tr580 using vehicles have interchangable valve bodies I also have a link to one I am looking at I believe would fit but the website says otherwise I am not sure if I am willing to share. This one would be a top loading valve body.

I'd suggest buying OEM if possible, alot of times it's one of 3 (or 4 don't remember which) solenoids on the valve body that went out and I remember seeing a video on YouTube from "mr.subaru" was the persons name talking about where to buy just the solenoids if you want to try replacing just that, but be aware usually if one solenoid dies the others aren't to far behind.

When mine went out (about 190K miles when it went) I went with an OEM one and while spendy its been good for another 50K miles so far. I also never ended up getting a relearn done which is odd as it's heavily recommended so not sure if OEM is a factor in that or not but something to be aware of.

not sure on bottom vs top loading valve body though? I have a 2010 Legacy with the TR580 CVT transmission and once I took the transmission drain pan and filter/screen off, the valve body was right there for what that's worth

You may want to check with your dealer on this. There were some transmissions built during this time period that had a defective solenoid in them. Subaru extended the warranty on these to 10 years or 100k as I recall. I'm sure you are out of warranty but as I recall when mine was repaired,
Subaru did not pay all that much for the repair. Labor wasn't all that much either, like an hour or two, plus the hour diagnostics that they always charge even though they know exactly what the problem is.
