I’m new to legacy but not Subaru. New to turbo engines but not to mechanics.
I’m purchasing a 07 legacy wagon with an engine that as the owner says “stopped running”. My anticipated problem with the 150k miles is a broken timing belt but just not sure as of yet.
Are there any quirky things specific to turbo engines or legacies that I should look for? Once I get it home I intend to get the front cover off and see if the belt is intact.
Back to the title. If in fact I need an engine the JDM providers are offering a 2.0 instead of a 2.5. Is this a good option and should there be any reflating of computers or changes needed to accomplish this? Then there is performance. The change will drop the output by 1/5. Is that going to adversely change the performance?
Thanks for the input.
