2003 Legacy Wagon Sunroof

I have the Legacy Wagon with the dual sunroofs. My problem is that the
front sunroof won't tilt up anymore. I can hear the motor work when I
press the button, but the roof stays shut. Has anyone had this problem
before? Any ideas before I take it to the shop? Thanks!

Probably powered by a cable that has either broken or came off the
track.

Okay, I was able to narrow down the problem some more. I removed the
front sunroof glass and checked the tilt-up assembly for the front
sunroof. It seems to work properly with the sunroof off (i.e. the
mechanism rises when I press the sunroof open switch and falls when I
press the sunroof close switch. However, it seems to have lost the
power rise when loaded with the weight of the sunroof. Does anyone
have any ideas on how the tilt-up assembly lost its lifting power?
Thanks!

This just happened to mine when it closed on a piece of ice that had
slipped forwards.
I press the button to open it, it does not move, but I can push it up.
When I push the close button, it locks down securely.

How did you get the sunroof off?

The sunroof is held in place by 4 bolts. Two are located underneath
the sunroof switch and the other two are hidden by two covers where
the roof opens up. These two were most difficult to remove since
there's little clearance between the window glass and the frame. Still
checking to see if this will be an easy fix since all the other
sunroof components are working fine.
