2000 OBW Transmission slow to engage

Hey folks,
Anybody been down this road? Going from Park to Drive, there is a
second to 3 seconds before the transmission engages. Then it clunks in like
normal. Doesn't seem to be slipping, just slow to "clunk in"

There's an internal seal that shrinks, various concoctions of majic
tranny juice are reported to help a bit.

Good info on this over at the ultimate subaru msg board.
