Does the water pump need to be removed to replace the timing belt of a 2005 outback 2.5 (non turbo)? I just acquired a 2005 Outback with 178K miles. The timing belt is an unknown and I will replace it soonest. Previous vehicles I've had sometimes require the water pump to be removed; if i am paying labor to remove (& replace) the pump, I will pay for a new part.
