Hi all,
I've got a friend with an 04 Impreza N/A and a manual transmission and a little over 200K miles on it. Long story short, looks like his clutch release lever/fork is broken. I guess this is a common issue on higher mileage Subarus. You can see the fork isn't sitting straight in line with the slave cylinder rod. Its at an angle. Seems loose and I doubt it can be reconnected. Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of my assumptions!
My plan is to pull only the engine out the front with a cherry picker, and replace essentially all clutch related parts (with probably the Excedy kit plus master/slave cylinders). I've watch a few videos on the matter and it seems surprisingly straightforward.
My question for those of you inclined to help is what else should I do or look out for?
Rear main seems like a given... Probably reseal the pan... What about the valve cover gaskets? What else should I put in my cart for this job?? He did mention he's losing quite a bit of oil. I'm guessing he's losing it from the valve covers. Its very dirty and oily down there so its hard to tell where exactly its coming from.
I saw there's a pretty sweet billet fork for the STI... but it wont fit his car... But maybe some of you might know what else I should get?
