'02 Forester clock

The clock in my '02 Forrester seems to have developed an intermittent
problem. When I start the car, the clock sometimes illuminates then goes
dark, and sometimes it will go from dark to 'on', sometimes it stays off.
Does anyone know if this is a common problem, and if there is a cheap fix,
like popping open the bezel and reseating a connector?

Might be a cold solder connection on the circuit board inside the
clock. If you are able to deal with such things you can take the unit
apart and resolder any obviously bad joints.

A bit of solder touch-up didn't fix the clock. Bought a NIB module for $40
on ebay (vs. $70 from the dealer's parts dept).
